International Women’s Day Pop-Up High Tea 

To start off the university year, the Pop-Up High Tea held on International Women’s Day introduces and reinforces the core goals and values of our society to our valued new and old members respectively. It provides plenty of opportunity for all members to network and brainstorm ideas for the rest of the year. All proceeds from the High Tea go to our chosen charity of the year. 

 

Resume & Interview Advice Panel

Companies from both the private and government engineering sectors will be given the opportunity to discuss and provide advice to university students on preparation for their resumes and interviews for engineering internships. Following this panel, companies will be given the opportunity to review the submitted resumes and select the top applicants. This will be a great opportunity for companies to offer an internship opportunity to high calibre and deter-mined engineering undergraduates.

 

Industry Night

Invited companies have the opportunity to show case themselves at individual company tables, and also speak to our engineering members on a more intimate level. This is a great opportunity to meet UNSW engineering undergraduates with on-campus catering provided.

 

Women in Engineering Discussion Panel

Invited guests in the engineering industry have the opportunity to share their experiences in the workplace to undergraduates, providing students with in-sight into women working in the field. This panel is intended to provide our members with a greater understanding of working within the engineering industry, the journey it entails and workspace expectations.

 

High School Engineering Workshop

The High School Engineering Workshop provides high school students with an opportunity to gain insight into the field of engineering. Companies, graduates and PhD students will be invited to speak to high school students about their experiences in the industry. The workshop is aimed to provide high school students with hands-on experience and insight into the field of engineering, both academically and in the workplace.

 

Bootcamp 

The Bootcamp is held in the few weeks preceding ENGSOC’s Annual Sports Day. Our aim with the Bootcamp is to support the women participating in the Sport Day with several intensive training sessions. A friendly, inclusive game of touch footy ties up the Bootcamp sessions.

 

Charity Gala

This event includes a standard 3 course meal along with entertainment, invited speakers and guests as well as the chance to directly be involved with the charity organisation. The main purpose is to raise funds for a chosen charity that actively practices the aims of UNSW Women in Engineering Society in the community. This is an opportunity for our members and supporters to come together and support the efforts of encouraging women within the engineering field.
