UNSW Women In Engineering
Charity Gala 2015

On Wednesday 30th of September, UNSW WIESoc hosted our inaugural Charity Gala, at L'Aqua, Cockle Bay Wharf.

On the night, there were inspirational talks from our chosen charity, Room to Read and our Principle Sponsor, ANSTO. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal, an amazing view of Darling Harbour, and the opportunity to participate in a charity raffle on the night, with all proceeds going to Room to Read.

Representing our Principle Sponsor ANSTO - the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation was Dr. Anna Paradowska who presented to us a lovely talk about the multiple paths in her Engineering journey leading to her career in ANSTO and what it was like for a woman in the industry to raise and support a beautiful family of her own.

We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Anna Paradowska for sharing her journey with us, and for her continual support for women in science and engineering.

As part of the 2015 Charity Gala, The UNSW Women in Engineering Society are supported the efforts of Room to Read - a global non profit organisation that is actively practicing the aims of our student society of equality in education in the wider community. They work to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading for primary school children with communities in developing countries in Asia and Africa, and support girls to complete secondary school with the life skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Raji Ambikairajah, the Sydney Chapter Leader for Room to Read for sharing with us her unique personal stories of her engineering journey through an enlightening presentation.

Special thanks to Dr. Alex Bannigan for her continuous support during the planning of this Charity Gala, our DJ Arthur Chan, our photographer for the night Sophie Quang, as well as you our members for attending and supporting our event!
