Inaugural Inter-Uni Autumn Cocktail Night

On Friday the 1st of May, in conjunction with University of Sydney and University of Technology Sydney, the UNSW Women in Engineering Society hosted the inaugural Inter-uni Autumn Cocktail Night, a concept created by the Events Managers of UNSW WIE.

The Cocktail Night was a joint event stemmed from the interest of UNSW Women In Engineering Society to work with other universities to expand networking opportunities among societies with the same aim and mission.

On the night of the event we were joined by industry members from Westpac, Parsons Brinkerhoff, JohnHolland, Oliver Wyman and L.E.K Consulting, supporting the efforts of the three universities. The event comprised of speeches made by the President of USYD WIE Katy Lu and Kelly Pan, one of the Events Managers of UNSW WIE, as well as our guest speaker Gabriella Hartig-Franc. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours from the University of New South Wales, she completed the John Holland Graduate Program last year as an Environmental Advisor, and is now working for John Holland as a Community Liaison Officer on the North West Rail Link project. Hearing about her journey was very insightful and inspiring as it encouraged students to seek opportunities outside of university studies and take the initiative of career planning.

UNSW WIE would like to thank everyone who came on the night! It was a fantastic way to not only gather together students from UNSW, UTS and USYD and network with industry representatives but also a great opportunity to celebrate the diversity of women in the engineering field.
